Many of us find it hard to say exactly what we want from personal development work. Sometimes that’s because it is hard to know exactly what we want from life. Often our valid starting point is a general desire to be happier, to feel better, or to operate more effectively.
We know that one of our basic needs as human beings is for meaning and purpose in our lives. There are many different ways to get that need met, but without it we will feel unsatisfied and unmotivated; lacking in energy, confidence and self-belief.
Discovering more about individual purpose, and learning how to find or create more meaning in life, is an excellent place to begin one-to-one work - often by looking at where someone’s passions lie, what interests and excites them, how they choose to spend their time, what skills and talents they have, what they believe in, and what changes they want to see in the world.
Our professional coaches have plenty of experience in helping people to understand what they want from their life and work, and in the process to build the kind of motivation and confidence that comes from a strong sense of self.
Many find that undertaking a training in basic coaching skills is equally effective. On our foundation course, for example, everyone commits to a personal project: something that is meaningful and worthwhile and can be achieved in a few months. This project has led many people on to create new relationships, new businesses and new careers, while building a strong sense of purpose.
